Last Friday it was my sister Ash's 24th birthday, and what better way to celebrate then a weekend getaway! We both got Friday off of work, which gave us time to pack last minute, make the standard Walmart pit stop, and arrive in Kelowna before dinner.

Ash booked the cutest Airbnb less than fifteen minutes from the downtown strip and the lake. It was an above-garage suite that looked like it came from the pages of an IKEA catalogue. The location was perfect and the complimentary bottle of wine was appreciated. Check out all the details of our accommodation here.
To celebrate the big 2-4, that night Ash and I went for dinner and drinks at The Munkey's Fist. They offered an entirely vegan menu there, so we were pretty stoked to check it out. Plus, they had an outdoor patio that faced the lake, can't beat that. If you're grabbing drinks there I recommend the Floradora!

We kicked off Saturday morning by heading to the Naked Cafe, it's one of those places where you could easily try everything on the menu, because everything looks that good. With our bellies full, we made our way to the beach and lounged there until mid afternoon. It's so nice to have a change of pace. No rush, no worries, just time on our hands. Once we caught our second wind (laying in the sun always makes me want to nap), and assessed our sunburns, we hopped on the boat and cruised around for the rest of the evening.

Sunday rolled around, meaning time to pack up and leave. We realized how much stuff we brought that we didn't even touch (typical) and grabbed breakfast sammies at the Naked Cafe, they didn't disappoint. We had an impromptu picnic at the park, pointed out cute dogs, and then headed back home.
As I was driving along the 97, it got me thinking "where to next?". This summer I'd love to go to Oregon, Tofino, and camping someplace close to home (I'm not too picky). It's funny how a quick trip to someplace different can shift your feelings, and renew your energy. Sometimes you just need to be reminded that there's so much out there to get excited about.
