I spent last weekend in Revelstoke and it was surreal. The ski and board club at my school hosted the trip so all the big details were taken care of; transportation, accommodation, and lift tickets. All I had to do was pay, pack my bags, and show up on time for departure.
When I mentioned this trip to my friends I was excited about the prospect of visiting and skiing someplace new but I was feeling doubtful about my abilities as I'd only learned how to ski last season. But doubt isn't a good reason to pass up an opportunity and so the trip was a go!
Nine hours by bus and we were in Revelstoke, checking into the homey Alpine Inn. That evening after snacking in our hotel room (I lived off of ramen, minute rice, and an array of granola bars) we mingled with others on the trip, hit up a local bar, and made some friends along the way.

The next two days were filled with skiing and it was nothing like I'd ever experienced before. I know it sounds cheesy, but I was literally in awe, speechless. The views were stunning and the conditions were perfect with light powdery snow continuously drifting down from the sky. During this trip I conquered by first black diamond, I tried more technical runs, I was playful, I pushed my boundaries, I became a better skier, and I had so much fun - doubt be damned! Thankfully I was able to kick that feeling of doubt out of my mind and in return I got belief, belief in myself and my capabilities.
Sunday afternoon we hit the road and despite highway closures extending our drive home to fourteen hours I would still do it all over again, Revelstoke has a special place in my heart 🖤.
