A WEEK IN MAUI

I spent this past week in Maui, with temperatures up to 30°C it was a change I readily welcomed. The days seemed to stretch on forever, and were spent lounging at the beach, swimming in the ocean, getting toasty poolside, or munching on local fruits and sipping on Costco margaritas (so good).

My parents had planned this trip months in advance, but once I found out that my final exams finished early (and my Mom suggested I come along) I began looking at flights and found a round-trip ticket for $445! It helps that my Dad works for an airline, and is into finding the best deal, but a few sites I like to use for finding flights is google flights, skyscanner, and flighthub.

Some personal highlights from the trip are listed below, if you ever find yourself if Maui these are a couple must-dos!

Best $45 USD I've ever spent, hands down. This 2-hour boat ride was great because A) you get spectacular views while out on the water, B) you're guaranteed to see whales, and C) the foundation is focused on education, conservation, and conducting whale-friendly tours. I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that I saw a pair of humpback whales breach simultaneously, two times in a row. It also puts into perspective how unnatural and cruel confining cetaceans in aquariums for entertainment and economic purposes really is.

This section of beach in Lahaina is a turtle haven! I went there twice because once wasn't enough, it's turtles galore since they love hanging around the volcanic rocks in the area. If you're into snorkeling, or think you'd enjoy swimming in and amongst turtles, this beach is for you.

The timing of this trip couldn't have been better, and it was such a relaxing way to kick off summer vacation. Forever grateful my parents let me crash their Hawaiian getaway 💘.
