WHAT THE FRICK IS UP

Hi everyone!!! It's been awhile and that's okay. I didn't have the urge to blog these past few months, might have been because I was preoccupied with school and work, uninspired to write, or feeling the effects of social distancing, but I'm here now.

Lately the days have been familiar, I'm doing the same mundane tasks and it feels like life itself has been on repeat. One thing I've found helpful to combat this groundhog-day-feeling is to get excited about the small things, so I go bed looking forward to waking up and making myself a cup of coffee. Once the day's begun I'll head out to the yard, checking up on the flowers I planted a couple weeks ago, sit in the sun if she's paying a visit, and watch my dog dig holes where she shouldn't be. These moments are shreds of happiness, before they seemed trivial but now they remind me that joy is always around if you look hard enough.

I've been living vicariously through animal crossing since I bought myself a Nintendo Switch (you'll be happy to hear that K.K. Slider is coming to my island in the coming days) and have also purchased a skip rope, beer, and crocs. I'm hoping to try out all the new fruity beers BCL has to offer, I'm sure that'll keep me occupied. Bike rides with friends and family walks have also kept my spirits high.

Some days are better than others seeing as there's this ongoing tug-o-war between being productive in terms of school and escaping by means of technology, but whichever the winner I've learned to accept it. Honouring how I'm feeling has taken the front seat, I give myself breaks when I need them and push myself when I need to get my ass into gear.

As for things that I'm looking forward to, my mom and I are sampling paint colours for the entryway, living room, and upstairs hallway- a big project to say the least but it's something that'll keep us occupied and will really transform the space (I've been watching a lot of HGTV lately okay). There's also plans to do some landscaping in the front yard and I've pulled out the sewing machine that's been getting way too comfortable in the garage. So far I've made a handful of masks from scrap fabric and am going to make a reusable party banner next.

The point is, be gentle with yourself and others. Remain at home if you can, wash your hands, wear a mask, and check in with the ones you love.

Stay safe hunnies!
