We spread ourselves thin, we try to do everything all at once. The media tells us to 'rise and grind' and to do whatever it takes to accomplish our goals. Yes these messages can help us notice when we're unmotivated and procrastinating, and assist us in getting back in the 'groove' so to speak, but a lot of the time they dismiss the fact that we as humans need to take care of ourselves too.

Taking care of yourself looks different for each person, but is necessary each and every day. For me personally, taking care of myself looks like: journaling, walking my dog, meditating, being present with people I care about, getting outside, watching an episode of my favourite show, reading, and doing a full-on skin routine. That's not to say that every single day you have to do all the things that you consider self-care, but it means you should be mindful that each day you deserve some quality time, where you pay full attention to what your body and mind need.

Taking a moment, whether it be fifteen minutes or an hour, to thank yourself for all that you accomplish on a daily basis is well-deserved. Setting aside this time can help you feel grounded among the chaos of your everyday life. Work, school, social commitments, and everything in between can take a toll on your well-being, but slowing down and giving a moment to yourself can really put your mind at ease and give you a newfound perspective about whatever has been causing those anxious feelings.

When you take care of yourself, the glass always seems to be half full, and life begins to feel a lot more enjoyable.
