This long weekend has been filled with so much goodness, I was surrounded by great company, had tasty food and drinks, and felt so at ease despite the whirlwind of starting my first Fall semester at UBC in just a few days. What you spend your time doing, and who you spend it with, has the ability to alter how you perceive your current situation. Choose to spend your time wisely, doing things that bring you joy, with people that bring you joy.
Friday
Had lunch with my coworkers after a long day of cleaning and prepping for out-of-school care, the first day of class is just around the corner! We went to Lotus Vietnamese, I had the vegetarian fried roll vermicelli- and they had a few other vegan options too. Work is so better when you're surrounded by a solid group of people, I couldn't have asked for a better bunch to spend three weeks of my summer with.
That night I went to Raisu Japanese, it wasn't like your typical Japanese restaurant, it seemed more authentic/traditional. The space was super cool, and the projector playing Edward Scissor Hands on the wall was the cherry on top. I ordered the vegan bara chirashi bowl, the vegan bento box also sounded delicious but has to be ordered 24h in advance!
Afterwards I experienced by first ever espresso!!! I decided to go all in and ordered a double. It reminded me of motor oil, but I can see why people drink it. You can feel the
caffeine pulsing through you immediately after, the buzz is real.

Saturday
Grabbed brunch at The Naam, which has a completely vegetarian and vegan menu. It's also open 24h, so if you're ever craving a tofu dog at 3am this is your place. I had the scrambled tofu, I'm a sucker for that, it's probably one of my favourite breakfasts to make at home too.
Coffee had to happen, so we headed to Bean Around The World. I've been enjoying Americanos lately, I got excited and ordered a big one, but I actually finished it without letting it get completely cold (I'm a slow coffee drinker). The location on w 10th in Vancouver also has a handful of vegan bakery/dessert items which is sweet!
Sunday
Went to the Steveston Market with Mom and Em, we ended up getting some fresh Okanagan plums. Afterwards we sat in the sunshine, chatting and sipping on a cool drink. Slow Sundays am I right?

For dinner and drinks we went to the Beer Snug. This cozy spot sells Persephone Brewing craft beer, and has a completely plant based menu (4 items). You can buy and fill growlers here too!
Monday
Started the day by going for a jog, haven't been in ages so it was a tough one, but well worth it. After washing up Ash, Em, and I headed downtown. We stopped by the Aritzia warehouse sale and treated ourselves to Meet on Main for dinner. I got the double double- one of the best burgers I've had hands down!

I couldn't have asked for anything more, this long weekend was just what I needed. It's all about balance, now it's time to prep for Fall and everything that comes with it.
