Transitional periods can be hectic, and may feel like your efforts to create stability in your life are falling short. There's impeding change, whether you want it or not, and life can begin to give way to feelings of anxiety about the future. But, it can also feel like a time of discovery, filled with hope about the shifts you're about to undergo. New ideas and ways of being are starting to gain traction, and you can begin to see those welcome changes finally take shape.
With Fall just around the bend, change is undeniably on the way. For myself, fourth year of uni is approaching and the hunt for a new job begins, all while trying to balance other meaningful aspects of my life. Many people are trying to work their way through this balancing act - trying to prioritize what they consider important while accomplishing the goals they've set for themselves, it can be exhausting.
So how do you handle transitional periods with grace?
Acknowledge your feelings, but reflect and assess them if you're entering a place of fear or worry. Why are these changes eliciting a negative response? Why is the prospect of growth making you stick your heels in the sand? Growth can be intimidating, but should never be feared. Growth means you're learning and moving with the world, not against it. Make life easier by embracing times of transition the best you can, and remind yourself that although it may not be easy, it's most often worthwhile.
