I'm all about creating a space that you truly enjoy, somewhere that you can unwind, that reflects who you are, and is a place you actually want to spend your time. For me, that space is my bedroom. Whether you’re getting ready in the morning, doing homework, or sleeping, a good portion of our day is spent there, that’s why it’s so important to freshen up your space!

Tidy Up

For me, an unorganized, cluttered, and messy space leaves my mind feeling the exact same way, so keeping it tidy is important for my overall well-being. One of my favourite things to do is purge my closet, I always end up with a bag or two to donate. Set aside 15 minutes to clean your mirrors, desktop, and vacuum, this will make your space feel polished (literally). De-clutter, what’s lying around that has no meaning to you? What’s just taking up space? I like to envision this scenario, if I saw it in the store today, would I buy it? If not, then it’s time to get rid of it.

Reorganize

Something as simple as moving your furniture around can really transform your room. Map out your space, I always like having my desk by the window so I can get some natural light in the mornings while I’m getting ready or doing homework. Changing up the way your space looks also breathes new life into it, making it feel completely redone.

Fresh & Lively Fixes

Going to bed with fresh sheets is one of the best feelings! Also changing your bedding can change the vibe of your space, depending on the print and colour of your bedspread your room can feel boho, crisp, or cozy. Fresh flowers also add a lot to a space, even fake ones can do the trick! My go-to flowers are spray mums, they can last weeks without wilting 💐. A must-have of mine is a diffuser, I’ll usually put citrus oils on during the day, and peppermint or lavender come nighttime. Incense also smell lovely with the window open wafting it all around your space, the scent always make me feel so relaxed.

New Additions

Switching up your décor can transform a space. My favourite pieces are a handful of collage postcards I got from Design Judge which I framed and put around my room, my big ol’ desk from IKEA, and one-of-a-kind bits and bobs I’ve found at the thrift shop. Buying second hand can also save you a lot of money if you’re thinking of redecorating!

Freshening up your space doesn’t have to be costly or take much time at all, it can be quick fixes and changes that shift your energy from dull and stagnant, to lively and motivated. My space can dictate my mood, so why not make it the most warm, uplifting, and inviting it can be?
