DAY TRIP PREP

Summer's just around the bend, which means impromptu trips to the beach, hikes with a view, and dedicating as much time as possible to soaking up the sun. The days seem to stretch on forever, and it's hard to worry when all you can think about is taking it easy.

Bare feet on hot pavement, freckled shoulders, and the sweet smell of sunscreen.
This summer I'm taking the guess work out of what to bring when a day trip rolls around. A handy checklist that will make spontaneous outings feel a lot less frazzled.
Tunes 🎶
Bring along a portable speaker and a groovy playlist, perfect way to set the mood.
Disposable Camera 📷
Snap away! They're super easy to use and it's always so exciting to see what you've captured once the film's developed.
Beverages & Snacks 🍊
Stay hydrated with lots of water, and don't forget the beers! It's all about balance. As for snacks, I always like to bring granola bars, fresh fruit, and crunchy chips. On longer outings make yourself some sandwiches, or grab takeout on the way.
Cards 🃏
An easy way to stay entertained, and is nice and compact. I don't know many games, but go-fish anyone?
Swimsuit & Towel 👙
Even if you just plan on suntanning, bring them along cause you never know! The towel can double as a blanket or pillow while you snooze by the lake.
Sun Safety 🕶️
That means a hat, sunnies, and sunscreen. Protect your skin and thank yourself later when you're not a painful peeling mess.
Floaty 🌊
Perfect way to enjoy the water, you can literally just sit back and relax. Depending where you're headed bring a manual or electric air pump, and if you're tight on space a kick board will also do the trick.

What's the one thing you wanted to do last summer but never got around to it? If the idea is still lingering in your mind, make it your mission to cross it off your list this time round! I get it, going with the flow is so much easier, no thinking ahead, planning, or booking, but sometimes you gotta think ahead if you wanna get things done.
Make an attainable bucket list with places you want to go, and things you want to do and see. For items on the list that need a little more attention, write out how you're going to accomplish them.
Find date ✔️ Figure out transportation ✔️ Book accommodation ✔️ Pack ✔️ Enjoy ✔️
Make the most of your summer, whatever that may look like. Maybe it's sitting in a hammock finishing all the books that have piled up on your dresser, working on the garden and watching it bloom, or camping under the stars. Regardless, make it yours, and make it the best one yet.
